NFTY Concert 2008
Temple Micah's own Doug Mishkin headlines our 11th Annual NFTY Scholarship Concert on April 12.
- Singer-songwriter Doug Mishkin is the featured performer at the 2008 NFTY Scholarship Concert on Saturday, April 12 at 8:00 pm. Mishkin, who has appeared on various NFTY and Union for Reform Judaism recordings, is releasing his second solo album, “Climbing That Ladder,” the title song of which was inspired by a Temple Micah collaboration between Doug and Liz Lerman.
- Doug has performed at hundreds of concerts and programs nationwide over his 35-year music career. Highlights have included appearances with Peter Yarrow (of Peter Paul & Mary) and with Tom Chapin. His song “Woody’s Children” is featured on each year’s anniversary of Robert Sherman’s long-running radio show of that name on WFUV-FM in New York City. Recently, he was joined by his friends and musical heroes Aztec Two-Step in singing “Woody’s Children" at the Guthrie Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
- Doug will be joined by Los Angeles-based Michele Brourman, the keyboardist who produced and arranged "Climbing That Ladder" and Doug’s first album, “Woody’s Children.” This annual benefit concert will raise funds for scholarships for participation in the summer camp and Israel programs of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). Join us for this Temple Micah tradition of great songs and great singing. A dessert reception after the concert is included.
- Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students. Patron and sponsor tickets are also available at a price of $100 or $75, respectively, for 2 tickets. Tickets go on sale on February 17.
- Volunteers are needed to help with organizing the concert. If you're interested, please send an email to the event chair.
